Nationality Issues in Hungary
While Austria had many nationalist groups, Hungary only had one major grouping, the Maygar. In 1867 the Hungarian government began to increase Maygar influence and by 1910 three quarters of the Budapest population were Hungarian which determined the Hungarian government to make the Hungarian empire into a strong national state. This caused the minority groups of the Hungarian Empire to seek help from neighboring countries to overthrow the oppressive Hungarian Empire. In 1908 Bosnia and Herzegovina, two provinces majorly consisting Orthodox Serbians, were annexed. This created a conflict between Serbia and Hungarian Empire and by 1914 after the assassination of Sarajevo, it was clear that the Serbian government was determined to destroy the Hungarian Empire
